Osimhen Suffers Injury Scare as Galatasaray Await MRI Results

Victor Osimhen suffered an injury scare on Friday as Galatasaray secured a 3-2 away victory over Başakşehir in the Turkish Süper Lig, with coach Okan Buruk admitting that the Nigerian striker will require further medical checks.

Osimhen was forced off in the 32nd minute after sustaining the injury, with Barış Alper Yılmaz introduced as his replacement. Midfielder Mario Lemina also failed to complete the game after experiencing discomfort.

Speaking to beIN Sports after the match, Buruk revealed that both players had reported groin problems, with Lemina having felt a slight pain during Thursday’s training session while Osimhen experienced discomfort on Friday.

‘Lemina had a slight groin pain in training yesterday. Osimhen also felt it today. We need to see these. It is necessary to take MRIs. I hope there is nothing important,’ Buruk said.

The Galatasaray coach added that the club would do everything possible to have both players available for their upcoming Champions League fixture.

Asked at half-time whether his injury was serious, Osimhen simply replied, ‘I don’t know.’

Galatasaray’s medical team is expected to provide a clearer assessment after the necessary examinations.
