Osimhen: ‘This is one of the happiest moments of my life’
Nigerian thrilled to make double history in third season in Italy

Victor Osimhen was the absolute protagonist of Napoli’s triumphant season, scoring 26 goals that propelled the club to its first Scudetto title in 33 years.
His five goals in Europe also helped Napoli to reach the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League, the first in the club’s history.
The 24 year old Nigerian has established himself as one of the best forwards in the world.
Osimhen wrote a long letter via Instagram to thank the fans and talk about his historic run.
‘This is one of the happiest moments of my life, we are the SCUDETTO CHAMPIONS!! This achievement fills me with pride and joy, and we couldn’t have done it without the unwavering support of our coaches and the incredible Napoli fans.
‘This victory belongs to all of us! The journey to this great victory wasn’t always smooth sailing, but it was the ups and downs that made us into the champions we are today!
‘We’ve turned every moment of adversity, setbacks, and hard defeats into more motivation, hunger and determination to keep fighting hard. The fans lifted us up, kept cheering us on and kept reminding us of the greatness we were capable of achieving.’
Then he added: “Not only that, I was elected as the best striker of the 2022-2023 Serie A season, which makes me the first African player ever to win the title of top scorer in the history of the Italian league and the first player to combine this achievement with the Scudetto since 2009. This gives me so much joy and I am incredibly honored to have achieved these goals”.
“To my fans all over the world, I see you all! The support, motivations and love, I am super grateful. You all have always honored me and I am proud to be Nigerian. Thank you for the unforgettable journey. God is the best “, he concluded.
