Osimhen’s first Napoli player to score in seven straight Serie A games!

Victor Osimhen was on target Friday night for Napoli who won 2-0 at Sassuolo to extend their lead at the top of the Serie A to 18 points.                                          With the goal, the Nigerian has become the first Napoli player to score in seven matches in a row in the three points for a win era (since 1994/95).                          The 24 year old has now scored 18 times in 19 Serie A games this season to move within two goals of equalling Simy Nwankwo’s record for most goals (20) scored in a single Serie A season by an African player in the history of the competition.
Osimhen is also four goals short of equalling the 46 goals scored by Liberia’s George Weah to become all-time the top scoring African in the Serie A.
The Super Eagle further extended his lead as the top scorer in the league this season and he is now six goals ahead of the duo of Ademola Lookman (Atalanta) and Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan) who are on 12 goals each from 21 and 22 games respectively.
