Owen Hagreaves: Arsenal can win the Premier League

Former Manchester United midfielder and now a Premier League pundit, Owen Hagreaves believes Arsenal can win the Premier League after the Gunners went five points

clear of Manchester City at the top of the log following their 2-0 win at Wolves on Saturday.

Arsenal will now sit top of the Premier League table on Christmas Day for the first time since the 2007/08 campaign, a season in which they ultimately finished third.

The five-point advantage the Gunners have over Man City is the biggest lead they have had at the top of the Premier League table since 13 December 2013.

Speaking after the game at the Molineux, Hagreaves said Mikel Arteta’s side has earned the right to be a Premier League title contender

‘Arsenal are definitely a title contender. They have earned the rights to be there. They have had a fantastic start to the season and I don’t think they could have

ever envisioned being top at the World Cup above Man City and Liverpool, two of the best teams in the world,’ said Hagreaves who believes they are over-achieving.

‘They are over-achieving and credit to Mikel Arteta who has has turned that whole toxic atmosphere around at Arsenal. They are a fantastic side, one of the youngest in

the Premier League.

‘Now they’ve got a real chance to win the Premier League and maybe they need to add to their team in January to have that real squad depth like Man City and

Liverpool.”
