Owen: Man United Worthy Winners After Beating Man City and Arsenal
Cunha revels in match-winning moment for Red Devils
Manchester United’s back-to-back victories over Manchester City and Arsenal have drawn widespread praise from pundits, with Michael Owen describing the team as ‘worthy winners’ after claiming six points from two of the toughest fixtures in the Premier League.
‘Absolutely incredible. They deserve both wins,’ Owen said. ‘Possibly the two hardest fixtures at the moment in the Premier League and they’ve gone and won six points out of six. An incredible return. The team looks organised, it looks happy.’
Former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves also lauded the performance, highlighting the side’s defensive resilience and counter-attacking quality.
‘United had to defend incredibly well and hit them on the counter. I thought they did that beautifully,’ he said. ‘Arsenal weren’t at their best.’
The result marked the first time Arsenal had conceded three goals in a Premier League match since December 2023, when they edged Luton Town 4-3, ending a run of 83 league games without shipping three.
Match-winner Matheus Cunha reflected on the significance of his decisive strike, calling it one of the best moments of his United career.
‘These are the types of games we dream of playing at Man Utd. This is the type of match we watch on television. This is one of the best moments for me here,’ he said.
‘It means everything. This is the type of thing I wanted to do when I came here. I know everyone has a part to play and the important decision is to help the team and give everything in every minute to help the team-mates.’
