Paris 2024 Olympics: Omotayo crashes out of men’s singles at round of 64

Olajide Omotayo’s bid to become the first Nigerian nay African man to win an Olympic medal in Table Tennis was ended Saturday at the round of 64.

The Nigerian, who crashed out in his first game at the Games three years ago on his debut also made a repeat performance as he lost to Iran’s Alamiyan Noshad 4-1.

Omotayo won the first set 11-6, raising hopes of him securing his first win on his second attempt at the Games but the Iranian, competing in his third Olympics showed his class and experience by winning the next four games 11-5, 11-4, 12-10 and 11-8.
