Peseiro: Medical Report Says Sadiq Umar Will Be Out For At Least 15 Days!

Confirms Alhassan Yusuf out of Ivory Coast Game

Super Eagles manager, Jose Peseiro says the report he received from the medical team of the team indicated that Real Sociedad of Spain forward, Umar Sadiq will be out for at least 15 days from the knee injury he suffered in the warm up game against Guinea in Abu Dhabi.

Peseiro made this revelation at the pre-match press conference ahead of Thursday’s must-not-lose cracker against host, Ivory Coast in their second group game at the ongoing 34th Africa Cup of Nations.

Sadiq, who made the 25-man team named by Peseiro for the tournament, was later ruled out of the tournament following the injury.

The forward returned to Spain and resumed training with his team two days later and has been included in Real Sociedad’s squad that will face Osasuna Wednesday evening in a Copa Del Rey round of 16 game.

‘I saw the report from the medical team that the player is injured and that he cannot recover in 15 days,’ said Peseiro at the press conference in Abidjan.

The Portuguese confirmed Real Sociedad was contacted after the injury and the report and the club asked the player hould return to begin his treatment and rehabiliation.

Peseiro also confirmed the player wanted to stay but, based on the medical advice, he had to make a decision on the final day allowed for replacement of player.

The Super Eagles coach says he is happy the player has recovered.

‘I am happy he has recovered but sad he cannot help us.’

Meanwhile, Peseiro has confirmed Alhassan Yusuf will not be available for the game against Ivory Coast on Thursday after the Royal Antwerp defensive midfielder sustained an injury in the 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea.
