Peseiro says Nwabili is 50-50 for Nigeria Vs Angola AFCON 2023 quarterfinal tie

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro says the team’s first choice goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabili’s availability against Angola in their AFCON 2023 quaterfinal
tie on Friday will depend on the result of yet another test the player underwent.

‘Today, we will take a final decision, we are waiting for the last test, but if he is not fine, I have confidence in Francis Uzoho and Olurunleke Ojo,’
Peseiro said at his pre-match media conference on Thursday.

Many Nigerians are hoping the Chippa United of South Africa goalkeeper overcomes the injury he suffered during Nigeria’s 2-0 defeat of the Indomitable Lions
of Cameroun in a last 16 game last weekend

Nwabali has been a revelation for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He surprisingly made the squad just weeks before the start of the competition,
but he has taken over the number one role, albeit Francis Uzoho dons the jersey.

The 27 year old has raised belief that Nigerians can go all the way and claim their fourth AFCON title following the inspiring performances of Nwabili in
goal.

Nwabili who has kept seven clean sheets in 15 matches for his South African clubside so far this term has kept three clean sheets in three of the four
matches he has kept for Nigeria.
