Portugal Vs Nigeria Friendly: Eagles camp bubbles in Lisbon as Uzoho, Dessers arrive, 22 players now in camp

The arrival of striker Cyriel Dessers and goalkeeper Francis Uzoho to the Super Eagles camp in Lisbon has swelled to 22 the number of players invited by head coach Jose Peseiro for Thursday’s international friendly against Portugal.

Both Dessers and Uzoho came in Tuesday morning to join the 20 that arrived on Monday.

For Uzoho, the match is an opportunity to face Cristiano Ronaldo again after the Nigerian goalie almost denied Manchester

United victory in a UEFA Europa League game at Old Trafford last month.

Uzoho, in goal for Omonia Nicosia, made 12 eye-popping saves against his boyhood club, before being beaten in stoppage

time by substitute Scott McTominay’s winner.

The prestige friendly against the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup bound Portugal will hold at Sporting Lisbon FC’s Estádio José Alvalade at 7.45pm.

Top on the list of players in camp are strikers Terem Moffi who has banged in 10 goals in the French

Ligue 1 and is ranked third behind Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the top scorers’ list; Paul Onuachu who is the top scorer

in the Belgian topflight league and Ademola Lookman, the third highest goal scorer in the Italian Serie A.

Also in camp is in-form Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi, Nantes of France forward, Moses Simon and assistant captain of the team, William Troost-Ekong who has been playing regualerly for Watford since the appointment of Slaven Bilic as the Hornets’ head coach in September.

Others in camp include goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, Kelvin Akpoguma, Oghenekaro Etebo, Emmanuel Dennis, Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo, Tyronne Ebuehi, Frank Onyeka, Bright Osayi Samuel, Ebube Duru, Chidozie Awaziem and Bruno Onyemaechi.

Thursday’s game would serve as a pre-World Cup warm up for Portugal who will face the Black Stars of Ghana in their Group H opener in Qatar on November 24.
