Magpies have now won three consecutive games against the Red Devils for the first time in 101 years
Former Premier League striker, Les Ferdinand says Newcastle United could have scored more than the one goal that fetched them all three points in their game against Manchester United at St James’ Park.
Anthony Gordon’s goal gave the Magpies victory as they see out a nervy final ten minutes despite dominating for the majority of the game.
“We were concerned in the first half for the amount of chances Newcastle created and we wondered if they could keep that up in the second half – they did.
‘A great result. 1-0, but it should’ve been more,’ said Ferdinand who scored 149 goals and bagged 49 assists in 351 Premier League games for Bolton, Leicester City, QPR, West Ham, Tottenham and Newcastle.
Man United legend and now Premier League pundit Paul Scholes who won 11 Premier League titles and four player of the month award with Man United says his former side deserved to lose at Tyneside.
“Rubbish. They’re a poor football team at the moment, aren’t they? Those results they’ve had recently are misleading. Too many lazy players on the football team – you can’t get away with that. Going to these places, the first thing you do is work hard.
‘You can see the joy that Newcastle are getting down both sides and feel sorry for the full backs,’ said Scholes who netted 107 times in 499 Premier League games.
Newcastle have now kept three consecutive league clean sheets against Man United for the first time in 126 years and won three consecutive games against the visitors for the first time in 101 years.
The Magpies have also won back-to-back league games against Man United for the first time in 51 years.
