Premier League Review: Aribo moves ahead of Iwobi in top tackler race

Joe Aribo made two successful tackles in Southampton’s come-from-behind 1-1 draw with visisting Arsenal at the St Mary’ stadium on Sunday to move two tackles ahead of

on-form Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi.

Prior to this weekend’s round of Premier League games, Aribo was surprisingly ahead of Iwobi with two successful tackles (22 to 20) but the Everton man made two

successful tackles in addition to being voted the official man of the match in the Toffees’ 3-0 bashing of Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace to draw level with the

Premier League newcomer.

Aribo responded 24 hours later to restore the two tackles advantage while the man expected to be leading the pack, the injured Wilfred Ndidi is third with 14

successful tackles.

Despite playing four games less, Ndidi has however made more interceptions (12) than Iwobi (9) and Aribo (5).

Taiwo Awoniyi who scored the only goal that sunk Liverpool at the City Ground on Saturday moves ahead of Aribo as the top Nigerian goal scorer in the Premier League so

far this term with the Southampton man just a goal behind.

The trio of Iwobi, Iheanacho and Emmanuel Dennis have scored once each while the Everton midfielder tops the list of assists with five with Iheanacho and Frank Onyeka

providing one each.

In fact only Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (9) has bagged more assists than Iwobi in the Premier League after 12 round of games.
