Christian Coleman of the United States exploded out of the blocks with the fastest start, hitting 10 meters in 1.87 seconds.
Oblique Seville of Jamaica followed closely at 1.88 seconds, with Ajayi just a fraction behind in third at 1.88 seconds. By 20 meters, Coleman still held the lead at 2.88 seconds, but Ajayi had already moved into second, edging ahead of Seville.
The decisive moment came at 30 meters, where Ajayi surged into the lead with a split of 3.80 seconds, narrowly ahead of Coleman at 3.81 and Seville at 3.83.
From that point forward, Ajayi extended his advantage, clocking 4.67 seconds at 40 meters and consolidating his dominance at 50 and 60 meters.
His acceleration was unmatched, and his metronomic splits of 0.84-0.85 seconds between 70 and 90 meters showcased superb speed endurance.
Crossing the line in 9.84 seconds, Ajayi sealed victory and equaled Nigeria’s national record. Seville finished second in 9.89, while Coleman claimed third with a season-best 9.95.
