Rangers matches re-arranged by NPFL
As club sides await the re-start of the second stanza of the 2023/2024 NPFL season that has been on break since the end of hostilities for the first stanza some weeks back, the organizers of the league, Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) have further re-arranged four matches involving Rangers International F.C.
In a release endorsed by the Chief Operating Officer of the league organizing body, Prince Davidson Owumi, it was stated that the compelling need to tinker with the remaining fixtures of the season to meet the commercial obligations of the broadcast partners of the league as well as the necessity to uphold national interest by way of supporting the Super Eagles at the AFCON in Ivory Coast were the major reasons for the re-arrangement.
The memo from the league body said in part, ‘While match day 20 will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, the following weekend of Saturday and Sunday, February 17 and 18 will be for match day 22 while Matchday 21 will now hold on the midweek of February 21/22 being Wednesday and Thursday. Subsequently, we would return to our original schedule from match day 23 on the weekend of February 24/25, 2024.’
With the new arrangement, Rangers International F.C’ matches will run thus; in the next four rounds of games:
Meanwhile, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and his lieutenants intensified preparations ahead of the start of the second round with some practice matches to ensure the right mix between the old and new players.
