Rangers, Shooting Stars extend perfect home record to go joint top of NPFL log

Abia Warriors also perfect at home as Remo Stars record second away defeat

Two traditional sides, Enugu Rangers and Shhooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, extended their 100% home record to four games to go joint top of the Nigeria Premier League table after seven rounds of games.

Rangers defeated Heartland of Owerri 2-0 in an Oriental derby in Awka on Sunday to go top of the log with 13 points. Goals by Ogunleye in the first half and
Igboke in the second ensured the Coal City side made it four home wins in four so far this season.

The Flying Antelopes also recorded their first clean sheet in seven games in the competition.

Shooting Stars were emphatic in their victory over hapless Niger Tornadoes who crumbled 4-1 in Ibadan. The home side scored opened scoring on 16 minutes but
were pegged back 19 minutes later by the visitors.

The Oluyole Warriors shifted the gear a bit higher thereafter as they netted thrice to end the game with their biggest home win of the season. The result is
an instant reaction to the 3-0 drubbing they received in the South West derby against Remo Stars in Ikenne.

The Ibadan-based side are on 13 points from seven games, same as Rangers but have scored three goals less than Rangers.

Another team that extended its perfect home run to four wins in four is Abia Warriors who defeated Katsina United 2-1 at the Umuahia Township Stadium,
Umuahia with Ibrahim netting a brace for the host.

Meanwhile, Remo Stars recorded their second away defeat of the season, losing 1-0 to Bendel Insurance of Benin at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City.
Seriki’s 25th minute goal was enough to give the ‘Edo Arsenals’ their third home win of the season in four games and third win in five games overall.

Rivers United drew for th second time at home this season after Oyowah scored five minutes into added time to save the host’s blushes after Sunshine Stars
took lead seven minutes into the restart at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
