Real Madrid unwilling to pay €80m for Chukwueze

Spanish outlet, Defensa Central reports that Real Madrid will not trigger the release clause to sign Samuel Chukwueze from La Liga club Villarreal.

The 23 year old Nigerian has a release clause worth €80m in his contract with Villarreal but the newspaper says reigning La Liga champions are not ready to pay even €50m to sign the in-form winger.

Chukwueze is enjoying his most productive season yet in his professional career since he made his senior debut for the club in November 2018.

He has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions for Villarreal.

The newspaper did not however mention the amount Los Blancos will be comfortable to pay. It is also unclear if Villarreal will be willing to let the Nigerian leave for less than €80m.

Another Spanish news outlet, Fichajes has also reported that Real Madrid have doubts about Chukwueze’s injury issues.

Chukwueze has made 198 appearances for Villarreal across all competitions, scoring 37 times and has provided 31 assists with 146 of the games coming in the LaLiga where he has scored 21 times and bagged 18 assists.
