Rivers Hoopers to play Nigeria Customs in Final 8 Opening Game

Rivers Hoopers will face Nigeria Customs in their opening game of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Final 8 on Monday in Lagos.

According to the format decided at the technical meeting on Sunday, each team from the Atlantic Conference will play teams from the Savannah conference while top two will advance to the semi finals.

Hoopers, Kwara Falcons, Lagos Islanders and Police Baton qualified from the Atlantic Conference while Kano Pillars, Gombe Bulls, Nigeria Customs and Benue Braves made it to the Final 8 from the Savannah Conference.

Consequently, the KingsMen will play Nigeria Customs, Gombe Bulls, Kano Pillars and Benue Braves for a chance to play in the semi finals.

Semi final games will hold on Friday November 11 while the Final takes place on Saturday, November 12.

The champions of the NBBF Final 8 will represent Nigeria in the third edition of the Basketball Africa League.

Meanwhile, Hoopers head coach Ogoh Odaudu says his team will approach each game like a final.

“We are going to take each game as it comes,” he said. “Our target is to win Monday’s game and then the next but we will not take any team for granted.”

“We won’t feel because we won it last year then all other teams will come and give up. We will go out there and give it our all, take each game as it comes and hopefully at the end of the week we would have picked up the BAL ticket.”
