Ronaldo Scores 981st Career Goal, Moves 19 Away From 1,000

Cristiano Ronaldo moved to within 19 goals of reaching the 1,000-goal milestone after scoring in Al Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan’s Neftchi Fargona in the Asian Champions League on Monday.
The Portuguese superstar scored Al Nassr’s second goal in the 42nd minute at King Saud University Stadium as the Saudi Arabian side secured their first victory in the competition.
Angelo opened the scoring for Al Nassr in the 33rd minute before Ronaldo doubled the advantage nine minutes later. Odilov pulled one back for the visitors in the 51st minute, while an own goal by Gofurov in the 78th minute sealed the win.
The result handed Al Nassr their first victory in the tournament’s second week, while Neftchi Fargona suffered their first defeat.
Ronaldo’s latest strike took his career tally to 981 goals, leaving the 40-year-old forward just 19 goals short of the landmark he hopes to achieve before retiring from professional football.
