Saddam and System trade verbal blows as GOtv Boxing Night 34 set for explosive festive card in Lagos

As excitement builds for GOtv Boxing Night 34, lightweight prospect Saddam ‘Baby Boxer’ Oladipupo has thrown down a fierce challenge to his opponent Imole ‘System’ Oloyede, vowing that their national title clash on December 26 at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos will not last beyond the second round.

Confident in his preparation, Saddam declared he is coming in ‘sharper and meaner,’ promising fans ‘a brutal lesson in disciplined boxing.’

Oloyede, known for his sharp tongue as much as his ring craft, wasted no time in firing back.

‘I remember how Saddam Hussein was hiding when the US dealt with him. My opponent will be hiding in dark corners of Tafawa Balewa Square, like his namesake did, when I finish with him,’ he retorted, insisting he is a far superior boxer than anyone Saddam has ever faced.

Their war of words has set the stage for what is expected to be one of the standout contests on a card that blends boxing, music and comedy into a festive spectacle.

The supporting bouts promise just as much drama. At super bantamweight, Sodiq ‘Happy Boy’ Adeleke will take on reigning champion Durotimi ‘Tiny’ Agboola in a national title showdown that pits Adeleke’s flamboyant skill against Agboola’s rugged, hard-hitting style.

An international lightweight clash adds extra spice, with Nigeria’s Rasheed ‘ID Buster’ Idowu squaring off against Ghana’s Nii Offei Dodoo in a battle of West African pride.

Another intriguing contest comes in the national lightweight division, where Segun ‘Odi’ Gbobaniyi faces the elusive and unpredictable Tobiloba ‘Smiling Assassin’ Ijomoni.

Analysts expect a tactical chess match laced with danger. The light welterweight division also delivers fireworks as Sodiq ‘Smart Lion’ Suleimon meets Emmanuel ‘Ability’ Abimbola over eight rounds of relentless action, with both fighters known for their high-pressure styles.

Rounding off the undercard is a national bantamweight challenge between Ezekiel ‘Touch’ Seun and Toheeb ‘Full Tank’ Hassan, a bout almost certain to produce eight rounds of blistering exchanges.

GOtv Boxing Night 34 is organised by Flykite Productions and supported by MultiChoice, Zetaweb, Lagos State Sports Commission and TheCable, promising fans a Christmas-season spectacle of fights, entertainment and rivalry.
