Sadio Mané ruled out of 2022 FIFA World Cup!

According to L’Équipe, Senegal’s Sadio Mané (30) has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup.

The Bayern Munich forward suffered a tendon knock during last night’s 6-1 victory against Werder Bremen.

Mané was withdrawn after just 20 minutes of the penultimate gameweek of the Bundesliga season before the World Cup in Qatar, which begins in under two weeks’ time.

Post-match Julian Nagelsmann said that he has suffered a blow to the leg, and that the extent of the injury would be known today.

As far as Mané and Senegal are concerned, the news isn’t good.

L’Équipe report that the former Liverpool forward has suffered from a tendon knock, which will see him miss several weeks, therefore ruling him out of the World Cup.

His absence will be a huge blow to Senegal, who go into the tournament as African champions, and with a squad certainly capable of going deep into the tournament.

In the group stages, Senegal will face the Netherlands, Ecuador, and host country Qatar. Aliou Cissé announces his squad on Friday, but Mané is now unlikely to feature on it.
