Semi Ajayi Equals Personal Premier League Clean-Sheet Record

Nigeria defender Semi Ajayi has equalled his personal Premier League clean-sheet record after helping Hull City keep three consecutive clean sheets in their opening three matches of the 2026/27 season.

Ajayi was once again a rock at the heart of Hull’s defence as the newly promoted side held Aston Villa to a goalless draw on Saturday. The result-maintained Hull’s unbeaten start to their Premier League return and completed a third straight clean sheet.

The 32-year-old has been an ever-present figure in Hull’s impressive start to the campaign, having also played a key role in their opening-day 2-0 victory over Manchester United, when he scored and was named Man of the Match.

Ajayi has now matched the three Premier League clean sheets he recorded during his first spell in the competition with West Bromwich Albion in the 2020/21 season.

He kept a clean sheet against Sheffield United in a 1-0 victory in November 2020, followed by a 0-0 draw against Burnley in February 2021 and a 3-0 win over Southampton in April 2021, although he featured for only five minutes in the latter.

Having reached that mark after just three matches this season, Ajayi will now have the opportunity to establish a new personal Premier League record when Hull travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on September 12. The fixture is confirmed as the fourth match of Hull’s campaign.
