Serie A 2024 Awards: Lookman in the running for Forward of the Year
Ademola Lookman is the only Atalanta forward included in the list of six nominees for the Serie A forward of the year.
The Nigerian scored 18 goals and 12 assists in the year under consideration with the bulk of the goals and assists coming in the Serie A.
Lookman also scored five Europa League goals including the historic hat-trick he netted to help Atlanta secure their first European title. He also bagged an assist.
He has scored twice in the UEFA Champions League and bagged an assist and one goal and an assist each in the Coppa Italia.
The 27-year-old will battle for the award with the Inter Milan duo of Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, Alfred Gudmundsson of Genoa/Fiorentina) and Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna last season but now with Premier League side, Manchester United.
Lookman’s coach, Gian Piero Gasperini has also been nominated in the Coach of the Year category, and he will battle Simone Inzaghi who led Inter to win the Scudetto and Thiago Motta who coached Bologna last season and now with Juventus.
Atalanta is also in the running for Serie A Club of the Year honour.
The winners will be announced in a ceremony on December 2.
From the winners of the individual player awards, there will then be chosen the overall Serie A Player of the Year.
