Sevilla looking to get Iheanacho out in January, target Juninho as replacement

Spanish LaLiga side, Sevilla are looking to offload their Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho is the January transfer window following the former Leicester City striker’s underwhelming performance since he joined as a free agent in July.

According to ABC Sevilla, the club has contacted the Nigerian’s entourage, who signed for two seasons, to find a solution in the winter transfer market in January.

Iheanacho is yet to either score or provide an assist in the nine LaLiga matches he has featured in since his switch from England and may end the year 2024 without scoring a goal in the league.

The 28-year-old has not scored in the league since October 2023 when he netted the third goal in Leicester City’s 3-1 win at Swansea City.

Iheanacho has however netted thrice in two Copa del Rey games, making him one of the most prolific players in domestic cup games.

In England, he scored once in one Community Shield Game, 18 in 25 FA Cup games to become the most prolific African in the history of the competition and 10 goals in 24 EFL Cup games.

Meanwhile, Sevilla FC have set their sights on Juninho who plays for Qarabag in the Azerbaijan league.

The Brazilian striker is in favour of an exit and has already said yes to VĂ­ctor Orta with his signing depending on the club are able to offload Iheanacho.

Juninho has scored 10 goals in 24 games, in addition to providing 3 assists. Last season, he scored 31 goals in 55 appearances.
