Sha’Carri Richardson breaks Tori Bowie meeting record, storms to 100m world lead

Sha’Carri Richardson has thrown down the gauntlet to her fellow sprinters, especially the Jamaican trio of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pyrce, Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah after storming to a 10.76 finish to win the 100m event at the Doha Diamond League meeting.

The US sprinter raced to the fastest time in the world this year and broke her late compatriot Tori Bowie’s meeting record in the process.

Bowie, the 2017 World champion died was found dead in her Florida home during the week.

Speaking after the race, Richardson said she had no choice but to run her fastest time since 2021 when she set her 10.72 lifetime best in Florida.

100m race, so I had to do my best no matter what. Peace, love and life.’
