Shearer: Iheanacho was outstanding once again

Nigerian named among the Premier League Matchweek 23 best X1

Premier League legend, Alan Shearer says Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho was outstanding for Leicester City for the second straight game and named the 26 year among his best X1 for Matchweek 23 games.

Iheanacho scored one and provided an assist as Leicester City demolished Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 at the King Palace.

A week earlier, the former Manchester City forward also scored once and bagged two assists in the Foxes’ 4-2 win away at Aston Villa.

The Nigerian was named the official man of the match in the two games and Shearer, who scored 260 goals in 441 appearances has described the Super Eagle as outstanding and named him and among the three best strikers for the week in a 3-4-3 formation.

“Outstanding again. Scored and assisted for the second successive match,” wrote Shearer in his team of the week selection on the official Premier League website.

Last week, Shearer wrote thus about the in-form Leicester City forward: “(Iheanacho) marked his first start since September with a goal and two assists,” Shearer wrote of the Nigerian after he was named in the team of the week for the first time after the Aston Villa game.

The Nigerian will be flanked on either side by Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford who scored the Red Devils’ second goal in their 2-0 defeat of Leeds United at Elland Road and Brentford’s Ivan Toney who scored the equalizer in the Bees 1-1 draw away at Arsenal.
