Shearer: Ten Hag Has Shown Ronaldo Who The Boss Is At Man United

Premier League pundit Alan Shearer says Manchester United manager, Eric Ten Hag has showed Cristiano Ronaldo there can be only one captain in the Red Devils’ ship.

The Dutchman has left Ronaldo out of Saturday’s clash at Chelsea after the Portuguese stormed out of Old Trafford in the 2-0 defeat of Tottenham Hotspur mid-week.

The Manchester United gaffer confirmed Ronaldo refused to be subbed on against the visitors and has banished the former Real Madrid star from first team training.

Shearer believes Ten Hag has sent the right message to his players that he is in total control.

Speaking on Premier League production, Shearer says the Dutchman has done what needed to be done.

‘The manager has to send a message to the rest of the squad that he’s in charge. Ten Hag has handled it really well. It’s difficult to manage the players on and off the pitch.

‘But Ronaldo shouldn’t have done what he did. But he’s always been the superstar – the game-changer – but for the first time he’s got someone saying he’s not good enough and that hurts.’
