Simbine Chases 13th Diamond League 100m Win To Paris

Former Commonwealth Games 100m champion Akani Simbine is set to return to the spotlight this weekend as the Diamond League makes its eighth stop in Paris. The South African sprinter, now 32, is chasing his 13th career 100m victory in the prestigious series, more than a year after his last triumph.

Simbine’s most recent Diamond League win came in May 2025, when he clocked 9.95 seconds to finish ahead of Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala (10.05) and Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme (10.10).

Since then, he has endured a barren spell, but his confidence has been lifted by a recent victory at the FBK Games in Hengelo, where he crossed the line first in 11.08 seconds.

The Paris meet will see Simbine face familiar rivals once again, including Omanyala and Eseme.

The field is stacked with talent, featuring reigning Olympic champion Noah Lyles, 2020 gold medalist Lamont Marcell Jacobs, Great Britain’s Jeremiah Azu, and American sprinter Trayvon Bromell.
