Spalletti: Osimhen can still do better than he did vs Atalanta

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen may have inspired a comeback by nodding home the equalizer before providing the assist for Eljif Elmas’ winner in their 2-1 defeat of Atalanta in their match week 13 Serie A fixture at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo but his manager, Luciano Spalletti feels the Nigerian could have done more.

Osimhen’s handball gave Ademola Lookman the opening penalty on 19 minutes, but the Napoli forward made amends four minutes later by scoring th equaliser.

The former Lille of France forward then turned provider for Elmas in the 35th minute which turned out to be the winner.

Spalletti is however still not entirely satisfied with the Nigeria international’s performance.

”Osimhen is a player who has these sudden surges and spurts, but he needs to every now and then also figure out how to pass it and work with his teammates.

”He was a little tired today, but still created chances, caused issues, and when Atalanta pushed their wingbacks higher with the strikers wide, he was alone in midfield and in those situations can do more than he did tonight,” the Partenopei coach told DAZN after the game.
