Sunderland 0-2 Arsenal: Guimaraes Hails Raya as Best Keeper in the World
Bruno Guimaraes has hailed Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya as ‘definitely’ the best goalkeeper in the world after his heroics helped the Gunners beat Sunderland 2-0 on Saturday.
Raya played a crucial role in Arsenal’s victory, producing several important saves before denying Sunderland from the penalty spot to keep Mikel Arteta’s side in the game.
Guimaraes, who scored Arsenal’s opening goal, said Raya’s penalty save provided the confidence the team needed to push forward and secure the victory.
‘Definitely. Very good saves. He keeps us alive in the game, that unbelievable moment saving the penalty,’ Guimaraes told TNT Sports.
‘I think after this moment we want [from it] a big confidence to play forward and score our goal. Everything for this guy, he’s an unbelievable player.’
Guimaraes also celebrated his return from injury by scoring against Sunderland, having previously enjoyed a successful spell with Newcastle.
‘It was unbelievable, I feel very good. Everyone knows I had a difficult start through injuries in my short time. But I’m glad to be back and glad to play,’ he said.
‘I scored a beautiful goal, beautiful moment for me and my family and I am happy.’
The Brazilian admitted the goal against his former club’s local rivals was particularly special but said he is now focused on building a new chapter with Arsenal.
