Super Eagles Draw Madagascar, Tanzania, Guinea-Bissau in AFCON 2027 Qualifiers
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn against Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The draw ceremony took place on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) in Cairo.
Éric Chelle’s side were among the seeded teams in the draw, joining Africa’s football heavyweights in the race to secure a place at the continent’s premier competition.
The 2027 AFCON finals are scheduled to run from 19 June to 17 July 2027, marking the tournament’s historic return to East Africa for the first time since Ethiopia hosted in 1976.
This edition will be co-hosted by three nations, reflecting a bold new scale and ambition for Africa’s biggest sporting event.
Qualification matches will be staged across three FIFA international windows between September 2026 and March 2027.
Matchdays one and two are set for 21 September to 6 October 2026, followed by rounds three and four from 9 to 17 November 2026. The final round of fixtures will take place between 22 and 30 March 2027.
