Tabugbo Hits Season’s Best, Chukwuma, Godbless Impress in Baton Rouge, Adisa Breaks Freshman Record

Adaobi Tabugbo stormed to a season’s best of 13.01 seconds in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2026 East Coast Relays, held at Hodges Stadium, University of North Florida.

The 24‑year‑old improved by two‑hundredths of a second on the 13.03 she clocked earlier at the Miramar Invitational in Florida.

Tabugbo, who owns a lifetime best of 12.87 set at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge last year, continues to show consistency as she builds toward the African championships later this month in Accra, Ghana.

Meanwhile, at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, Rosemary Chukwuma produced another standout performance in the women’s 100m. Assisted by a 3.7m/s tailwind, she clocked 10.95 seconds to finish third, ahead of Tima Godbless who ran 11.08 for fourth place.

In the men’s 100m, Nigeria’s leader Joshua Caleb, who boasts a 10.00 season mark, ran 10.20, while Ife Adisa, at another Collegiate meet stole the spotlight in the 800m.

The Mississippi State University freshman set a new lifetime best of 2:03.42, breaking the school’s freshman record and moving to number six on Nigeria’s all‑time list.
