Taiwo Awoniyi seeking to equal 28 year old Nothingham Forest goal record

Red-hot Taiwo Awoniyi could equal a Nothingham Forest goal record if he scores for the third consecutive time in the Premier League when Arsenal visit the City Ground on Saturday evening.

Awoniyi’s eight Premier League goals have been worth a precious 11 points for Nottingham Forest this season.

The striker scored three winners earlier in the campaign against West Ham (1-0), Liverpool (1-0) and Southampton (1-0) and he has now netted four times in his last two appearances, providing an end-of-season lifeline for Steve Cooper’s side.

The former Union Berlin of Germany forward provides a strong, physical presence in and around the box, and he has the tools to make life uncomfortable for Arsenal’s defenders at the City Ground on Saturday.

Awoniyi is also the top scoring Nigerian in the Premier League so far this season and will become the fourth Nigerian debutant in the last 10 years after Brown Ideye, Odion Ighalo and Emmanuel Dennis to end up as top scorer in the competition.
