Team Lagos Medal Haul Secures National Taekwondo Team Spots for Two Athletes

Team Lagos delivered a standout performance at the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation National Open trials, with two of its athletes earning coveted spots on the national team.
Olapeju Oyebanji claimed gold in the women’s heavyweight (+73kg) category, while Oladimeji Abdullah triumphed in the men’s finweight division.
Their victories not only secured national team selection but also underscored Lagos’ growing dominance in Nigerian taekwondo.
Beyond the two gold medals, Team Lagos amassed an impressive tally of four silver and four bronze medals across various categories, cementing their place among the top-performing teams at the competition.
Among the silver medalists were Abdulsalam Shukurat Omobisola (female finweight), Owodunni Adetilewa (female poomsae singles), Olanrewaju Praise Abiola (female 53kg), and Olawore Abdulazeez Olabode (male 68kg). Bronze medals went to Ayoola Moshoodat (female -67kg), Lawal Samiat Opeyemi (female 53kg), Owodunni Adetilewa (female -53kg), and Abdulquadri Abdulsobur (male 58kg).
