Tebogo promises to fire on all cylinders at Diamond League final in Brussels
Olympic 200m champion, Letsile Tebogo came from behind to win his second 200m Diamond League race on the bounce and the Botswana star says he can do much more at the Diamond League final in Brussels, Belgium next month.
The 21-year-old, who ran a new 19.83 meeting record to win the race moved second in the standings with 24 points behind Dominican Republic’s Alexande Ogando (31 points).
Not satisfied with his performance after running 19.64 to win in Lausanne three days earlier, Tebogo says he will not make the same mistake in Brussels.
‘My momentum was bad bad. That is something I have to work on. At the finish I did not even think I won the race. But it is a good victory. In the Diamond League finals, I need to fire on all cylinders. But overall, the season has been amazing. After the Olympics, I wanted to just have fun in the remaining meetings,’ he said post-race.
Meanwhile, two more Africans, Joseph Fahnbulleh and Tarsis Gracious Orogot will be hoping to get lanes in Zurich where they will have the chance to seal their spots in the final.
Fahnbulleh, the reigning African 100m and 200m champion is fifth in the standings with 16 points, same as USA’s King Kyree while the Ugandan, Orogot is seventh with 13 points.
