Temitope Adeshina’s 1.96m effort ranked among the top 8 indoor track and field freshmen performances so far
Temitope Adeshina’s 1.96m clearance in the high jump event at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas in January has been ranked among the top eight indoor track and field freshmen performances from the regular season.
In only her second meet of the season, Adeshina smashed Texas Tech’s indoor high jump record ultimately clearing 1.96m.
The 25 year old began to turn heads as she recorded a new season-best of 1.85m on her fourth jump. She missed her first attempt at 1.88m but clear it on the second, bringing her just one centimeter away from the school record.
On her next attempt of 1.91m, Adeshina cleared on her first try, becoming Tech’s new record holder, breaking Zarriea Willis’ 2018 mark of 1.89m.
Her next height was 1.96m and with two misses in the books, the Nigerian cleared on her final attempt to cap off her extraordinary night at the Sports Performance Centre.
Adeshina at the time held the NCAA and world lead and she also set a new Nigerian record in the event.
Other perfromances listed include Tito Alofe 2.22m clearance in the high jump, JaMeesia Ford’s 35.83 seconds in the 300m and Doris Lemngole’s 15:04.71 run in the 5000m among others.
