Thorup: Onyeka was outstanding in Bundesliga debut

Augsburg FC of Germany coach, Jess Thorup has hailed Frank Onyeka for an outstanding display on his debut for the club.
The Nigerian joined the German Bundesliga club on transfer deadline day and had only two training sessions with the club after he returned from international duty with Nigeria.
Thorup decided to hand his new player a starting line up and the former Brentford of England midfielder did not disappoint.
In defensive midfield, the 26-year-old pulled the strings, impressed with his unconditional tackling and also knew how to convince in the game with the ball.
“He only trained twice, was in the international matches,” Thorup explained. “From the beginning he showed us what a good player he is. He’s ready to help the team, that’s what he did today.”
Onyeka provided the assist for the second goal scored by Phillip Tietz and could have scored himself a little later but missed a great chance.
“Maybe only the goal is missing at the end, although he had an assist and played very well. As the first game, it was really an outstanding game,’ said Thorup.
