Trabzonspor President: Osimhen was offered to us, but we cannot afford him
Doğan also reveals his club interest in Gift Orban
Trabzonspor president, Ertugrul Doğan has revealed that Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen was offered to the club after the transfer window was shut in England and Italy.
According to reports in Italy, Doğan says his club could not afford the Nigerian when he was recommended to the Turkish Super Lig side.
“I think Osimhen was recommended to us as well. But of course, it is out of the question for us to do anything with those figures,’ Doğan said in a statement to Tivibu Spor.
Galatasaray however decided to go ahead with a move for the Nigerian.
Galatasaray announced the cost of Osimhen as follows: “An agreement has been reached with professional footballer Victor James Osimhen and his club SSCN Napoli for the temporary transfer of the player free of charge. The footballer will be paid a net seasonal wage of €6,000,000 for the 2024-2025 season.”
Meanwhile, Doğan has revealed Trabzonspor is interested in bringing Gift Orban to Turkey from French Ligue 1 side, Lyon.
Orban can play as a centre-forward and can alternatively operate as a right wing and striker.
Trabzonspor’s interest in Orban could mean they have given up on signing another Nigerian, Paul Onuachu who played on loan at the club last season, scoring 17 goals in 25 games.
