Trabzonspor Rule Out Cut-Price Sale of Nwaiwu Amid EPL Interest

Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan has insisted the Turkish club will not sell Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu unless their valuation is met, amid reported interest from Premier League sides Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Nwaiwu, who joined Trabzonspor midway through last season, has attracted attention following a string of impressive performances in the Turkish Super Lig.

Reports in Turkey claim Fulham and Crystal Palace are monitoring the 23-year-old centre-back as they look to strengthen their defensive options before the transfer window closes.

Speaking during events marking Trabzonspor’s 59th anniversary, Doğan confirmed the club had received enquiries but stressed that no acceptable bid has been made.

“We haven’t received the offer we wanted so far,” Doğan said. “We believe the figure has to increase to a certain level. Therefore, we do not plan to sell him for these amounts. If it increases, then we will talk.”

The statement suggests Trabzonspor are prepared to keep hold of the Nigerian defender unless a significantly improved offer arrives.
