Villarreal hit roadblock in Chukwueze contract talks

Talks have stalled over a new contract between Villarreal and Samuel Chukwueze ahead of the summer transfer window, according to GOAL.es.

The 23 year old Nigerian winger is having an incredible season at Villarreal, achieving his best goal involvements since 2018 when he made his senior debut
for the club.

He has so far scored 13 times and provided 11 assists in all competitions for the club.

Chukwueze has attracted interest from clubs in the Premier League such as Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool as well as Real Madrid in LaLiga,

Villarreal are however confident of agreeing on a new deal with their Nigerian import who made his 200th appearance for the club across all competitions last
weekend.

But according to GOAL.es, the negotiations over a new deal between Villarreal and Chukwueze’s representatives are at a standstill.

The talks have stalled and Villarreal are now worried about losing him in the summer transfer window.

According to the report, the Spanish club are trying to get things moving again but interest from other clubs has complicated the negotiations.

Goal.es also reports that Villarreal could be forced to let him go in the summer if a new deal is not agreed upon to avoid losing him on a free transfer next
year.

Chukwueze joined the club after helping Nigeria to win the FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile and signed a senior contract in November 2018. The deal will expire
June 2024.
