Wanyonyi Storms To 4th Straight Diamond League 800m Title In Brussels

Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi produced another dominant performance to win the men’s 800m at the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels, clocking a meeting record 1:41.80.

Wanyonyi, the Olympic and world champion, said he knew he needed to run around 1:41 to secure victory and delivered exactly that, despite windy conditions.

‘Today was all about winning and I knew that I would have to run 1:41 to win and I did,’ he said.

‘I win now the Diamond League for the fourth time in a row and that’s just fantastic.’

The 22-year-old Kenyan pulled away decisively over the closing stages to finish almost a second ahead of Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati, who ran 1:42.71, while France’s Yanis Meziane took third in 1:42.71.

Wanyonyi’s victory further underlined his outstanding form heading into next week’s World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest.

He added: ‘The conditions weren’t ideal tonight. The wind didn’t bother me that much, I was happy it stopped raining.’
