Watford bank on Emmanuel Dennis to end year 2021 on a high

Watford will be banking on the goalscoring form of their Nigerian international forward Emmanuel Dennis to end 2021 on a high.

The Hornets finished 2019 and 2020 with wins and look forward to finish three consecutive calendar years with victory for the first time since 2012 when they host West Ham United Tuesday evening at the Vicarage Road stadium. .

Claudio Ranieri’s men have lost four of their last five Premier League home matches, as many as they had in their previous 15 at Vicarage Road but nurse the hope of a turn around with Dennis in top, goalscoring form.

The 24 year old has been directly involved in nine goals in his last seven Premier League matches for Watford (five goals, four assists), having a hand in 64 per cent of the goals the Hornets have scored in these games, with nine out of 14.

The Nigerian will also be eyeing his eighth league goal of the season in 16 appearances. He has also bagged five assists this campaign and was named Watford player of the month for November when he matched a club record of scoring in three league matches, a feat set by former club captain Troy Deeney. He also won the Goal of the Month awards for November.

Dennis’ Nigerian compatriot at the club and Super Eagles deputy captain William Troost-Ekong will be keen to earn his first clean sheet as a defender since the start of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

The former Udinese of Italy player has made 15 appearances for the club this campaign and the Hornets have conceded at least a goal in each game he has featured in.
