‘We love what Ola is doing but other people in the club take care of contract discussions,’ Says Forest boss, Nuno
Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo says he is not involved in contract discussions at the Premier League club but admits progress is being made in the efforts to tie Ola Aina down to a new deal.
Aina joined Forest in July 2023 and his two-year deal expires in June 2025 and there are reports that Forest have been in talks with the Nigerian about keeping him at the club while Nuno has also made it clear he is keen for the Super Eagle to extend his deal.
Aina has been a pivotal player for Forest since joining as a free agent in the summer of 2023 and has been particularly effective this season, starting all 12 games played in the Premier League so far. He has also scored once from his defensive position.
‘I think things are going well. I am a coach; I give my opinion. We love what Ola is doing. We love him as a player and as a person, but other people in the club take care of those discussions,’ said Nuno.
Aina is also keen to extend his contract at the club.
‘All I can say is I am really happy at Forest. Fantastic club, I feel at home and we’re just building. I’m building, the club’s building. Let’s just see what happens in the future,’ the Nigerian said in September.
