West Ham target Dennis out to end unwanted EPL scoring record
Nigerian international forward Emmanuel Dennis will be out to end an unwanted scoring record he has set in his debut season in the Premier League.
The 24 year who has been linked with West Ham United and Newcastle United has scored in five Premier League matches Watford have lost this season. No player has scored in more defeats than the Nigerian this season.
It’s also the joint-most Premier League matches a Watford player has scored in and lost in a single campaign, level with Heidar Helguson in 1999/00.
Dennis scored the second goal in the Hornets’ 4-2 loss to Leicester City at the King Power stadium last November before scoring again in the next game, the 2-1 defeat his club suffered at the Vicarage Road stadium in the hand of Chelsea early December.
Dennis also scored in the 2-1 and 4-1 defeats to Brentford and West Ham respectively also last December. He was also on target last week when Watford lost the reverse tie to visiting Brentford at the Vicarage Road stadium.
The Nigerian has scored 10 times in 30 games for Watford so far this season and has joined the list of four other Nigerians who hit at least the 10-goal mark on their Premier League debut.
The mark also made him the 15th Nigerian to hit double figure of goals and 14th joint top scorer with Daniel Amokachi in the history of the competition.
Dennis will also be seeking to make his 28th start in 31 games for the Hornets.
