‘When the going gets tough, Man City get going,’ says Premier League legend Michael Owen

Premier League pundit Michael Owen says Manchester City have once again proved their mental toughness after defeating Tottenham at the Tottenham stadium to head into the final game of the 2023/24 Premier League season top of the table.

The Cityzens sit top of the Premier League table heading into the final day of the season for the sixth time in the last seven seasons, with the exception of 2019/20, going on to win the title in each of those previous campaigns.

“When the going gets tough, Man City get going. How many times have we seen it? They have gears in these title runs. Like Man Utd when I was growing up, in the second half of the season they go into overdrive.

‘When the pressure is on, they know how to deal with it – but it could have been so different tonight,’ Owen who scored 150 goals in 326 Premier League appearances said on live TV after the game.

Another Premier League pundit Shaun Wright-Phillips shared in Owen’s sentiment.
“I don’t know what to say about Man City. To come into this season, after winning the treble last year, and chase down Liverpool and Arsenal, close the goal difference gap and be a point clear with a game to go, is incredible.

‘The mental side of it is so impressive,’ said the former Man City man who netted 32 times in 315 games in the competition.
