Why Chelsea and Man United Cool Interest in Osimhen

Chelsea and Manchester United have cooled their interest in Victor Osimhen, with sources indicating that the Nigerian striker’s high salary demands have been the main stumbling block rather than Galatasaray’s valuation.

Reports in Türkiye suggested both Premier League clubs explored the possibility of signing Osimhen through agents, but his guaranteed annual wage of €21m was considered prohibitive.

While Galatasaray have set a transfer fee of €140m, insiders say it is Osimhen’s personal financial package that has deterred potential suitors.

The 27-year-old forward remains contracted to Galatasaray until 2029 and has made clear he has no intention of leaving Istanbul.

Last season, he scored 22 goals and provided eight assists in 33 matches, reinforcing his importance to the Turkish champions.

Despite his current market value being listed at €75m, Osimhen’s salary expectations have created a significant barrier for clubs hoping to lure him away.

For now, Galatasaray appear set to keep their talisman, while Chelsea and United turn their attention elsewhere in the transfer market.
