World Record Holder Amusan Drawn in Lane 2 for Star-Studded Diamond League Opener

Three-time African champion Tobi Amusan will kick off her 2026 Diamond League campaign today in China.

The 29-year-old Nigerian hurdler arrives fresh off her victory at the 24th African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra, Ghana, on Wednesday.

Drawn in lane two, Amusan faces a formidable field that includes three former World Champions, the reigning World Champion, the reigning Olympic Champion, who also leads the world this season with a time of 12.40 seconds, the World Indoor Champion and record holder, as well as the Diamond League record holder.

As the reigning world record holder, Amusan will be aiming to begin her campaign with a strong performance as she bids for a fourth Diamond League crown, following her hat-trick of titles between 2021 and 2023.
