Zielinski: Victor Osimhen is our Erling Haaland
Napoli midfielder, Piotr Zielinski, says Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen is their own version of Erling Haaland, the free-scoring Manchester City striker who netted five times in his club’s 7-0 whitewash of RB Leipzig Tuesday in a UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie.
Zielinski who scored once in Napoli’s 3-0 bashing of Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 in Naples on Wednesday for a 5-0 aggregate win said in an interview with Mediaset after the game the 24 year old Osimhen has been the difference maker for the team this season.
Asked if Osimhen could be defined as Napoli’s version of Haaland, he replied thus: Yes! He’s one of the best strikers in the world. He’s very strong for me, he’s making the difference and he’s undoubtedly a true champion.”
Like Osimhen, Zielinski also feels they have a good squad that can go all the way.
”It is clear that we are doing excellent things this season. I know what a team we are and I think we can do really well from here on but now we have to stay focused and give our best in every game that comes: if we do that, then the performances come by themselves.’
Osimhen is Napoli top scorer this season with 23 goals in 28 games. Four of the goals have come in five UEFA Champions League games whil the rest 19 are from the Serie A.
