2022 FIFA World Cup Update: Sadio Mane scare for Senegal, Lo Celso out for Argentina

Senegal will be sweating over the availability of star forward Sadio Mane after the player went off injured in Bayern Munich’s 6-1 annihilation of Werder Bremen on Tuesday in a Bundesliga fixture at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Mane was replaced by Leroy Sane in the 20th minute after appearing to indicate a problem with his right knee with 13 days until Senegal open their World Cup campaign against Netherlands.

For Argentina however, Giovani Lo Celso will definitely miss the tournament after the 26-year-old Villarreal star opted for surgery after suffering a slight muscle tear against Athletic Bilbao in a LaLiga fixture at the San Mamés satdium at the end of October.

This is definitely a huge blow to Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni who has seen the Villarreal playmaker link up well with Lionel Messi and was Argentina’s leading assist provider in World Cup qualification
