2023 AFCON Draw: Eagles will bank on win/draw record Vs Ivory Coast for fourth AFCON title!

Nigeria draw hosts, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea in Group A

The Super Eagles will be desperate for a win or a draw against the Elephants of Ivory Coast to secure their fourth African title after they were drawn in the
same group with the host in an exciting ceremony on Thursday in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Jose Peseiro and his team will also face Guinea-Bissau who they defeated 2-0 in a group game at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroun in the last
tournament and Equatorial Guinea in group…

The Nigerians have won the title three times in their 19 appearances in the competition and defeated on each ocassion on their way to the podium.

The two sides have met six times in the tournament with the Super Eagles winning three times viz 1990, 1994 and 2013 while the Ivorians won twice viz 2006
and 2008. The two sides drew goalless in their first ever meeting in the tournament on March 12, 1980 at the National Stadium in Lagos.

The three times Nigeria have won the competition, they were unbeaten in their encounters with Ivory Coast while the two times the Elephants defeated the
Super Eagles were at the knockout stages via a 1-0 win in the semifinals in 2006 and 2008.
