2024 Diamond League: Camacho-Quinn ready to extend head to record against Amusan, Williams and Charlton in Suzhou

Reigning Olympic 100m hurdles champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn is ready to extend her head to head record against her main rivals as she set to make it two wins on the bounce in the 2024 Diamond League.

The Puerto Rican ran 12.45 seconds to win in Xiamen at the opening leg of the 15 legs’ athletics’ premier one-day series six days ago.

The 27 year old came off a near horrible start to win the race and now says she needs to do better and Suzhou has presented her an opportunity to do just that.

Camacho-Quinn faces a field worthy of a global final, including world record holder Tobi Amusan, world champion Danielle Williams and world indoor champion Devynne Charlton.

She holds the best head to head record against the major rivals she will contend with in Suzhou.

She is 13-7 against Amusan, 11-4 against Willains and 16-1 against Charlton.

‘I need to do better on my start,’said Camacho-Quinn at in Suzhou at the pre-race media conference on Friday.

‘My finish is pretty strong so I just need to get a stronger start and be a little bit consistent with it, and we can see where we go from there.’

On the red-hot rivalry in the 100m hurdles, she said: ‘We’re one of the most competitive events. The times we put up aren’t easy; we embrace it.’
