2026 Commonwealth Games: Nigeria’s Akintola Exits Men’s 80kg Event After Points Defeat
Nigeria’s David Akintola suffered a defeat in his opening bout at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, losing to Tanzania’s Yusuf Lucasi Changalawe in the men’s 80kg round of 32 on Saturday.
Changalawe secured a 4-1 victory on points after the five judges scored the bout 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 28-29 and 29-28 in his favour.
Akintola was unable to advance to the next round after the closely contested encounter at SEC Hall 5.
